First we need a unique login name and a password.
This is the name you use to log in to the site therefore it must be unique. If you choose one that is already in use it will be rejected.
It's not case specific so John, john and JOHN are exactly equivalent.
Your screen name (the one which will appear alongside your contributions) can be different to your login name. This means you can use your email address as a login name.
There aren't many restrictions on passwords here. 6 characters minimum. That's it.
If you prefer to use long passwords or phrases that's no problem.
The way we store logins means that we can't remind you of a forgotten password as we don't actually have it. If you've supplied us with an email address we can send you a link to enable setting a new password.
Before your account is activated there are a few more details to attend to.
This is the name that will appear with any of your contributions to this site. Like your login name it must be unique.
Your real name. There is no real use for this at present except being able to address you correctly if we send you an email. It will never appear on the website without your permission.
Your email address will never be shown on the site and will not be revealed to any third parties.
Without it we cannot help you if you forget your password. Site editors may use it to contact you but only to help improve this website and the information it contains.
